The Faith in the City: Fall for His Dates Podcast Series Intro
Experience the wonder of His Wedding!
The Lord is pursuing us, and His Appointed Times are similar to the engagement and wedding process:
The Day of Rest or Shabbat – A weekly, year-round appointed on Friday night and Saturday which is a sign, almost like an engagement or wedding ring, that we agree to share His lifestyle. We bless Him for the bread and the juice or wine then rest in His presence. It can be viewed as a weekly betrothal.
The Day of the Sounding or Yom Teruah – The Bridegroom, who alone knows the day and the hour, sounds a horn to announce He is coming for His Betrothed who previously agreed to the terms of marriage and drank a glass of wine with Him to seal the covenant in the presence of witnesses. This also begins the Ten Days of Awe through the end of Yom Kippur. May we always feel the awe of His love and pursuit of us! The sounding of the shofar alerts us to prepare our hearts because the Day of Atonement is near.
Hebrew/Jewish New Year or Rosh Hashana – Celebrates a new year and fresh beginning, that He is King, and awakens us to the upcoming vows (dedication) to be made in purity and sweetness.
Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement – the Bride agrees to the Ketubah (Wedding Covenant) with her Bridegroom, is forgiven of past sins, and is made white as snow to be married in purity through the atoning blood of her Bridegroom and High Priest, Jesus the Messiah (Yeshua HaMashiach)..
The Feast of Booths, Sukkot, or Tabernacles – Can be seen as a picture of the consummation between and dwelling together of Bride and Bridegroom under His banner of love and protection. The Lord wanted a Tabernacle build so He could dwell in midst of, and communicate with, mankind.
Rejoicing in Torah or Simchat Torah – A celebration of and gratitude for the first five books of Moses which can be viewed as an annual anniversary of joy focused on the Ketubah or covenant between Bridegroom (HaShem or the Lord Himself) and Bride (Israel and all who desire to live according to its guidelines).
Leviticus 23:1-3 New King James Version
23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.
