Faith in the City: Fall for His Dates Wonder of the Word
A Faith in the City: Fall for His Dates Series Audio Podcast
Sense the Wonder of His Word!
In a world often filled with trouble, His Word can be a safe refuge. At SBE, our mission is to help you enter into His Word and Presence in life-changing ways!
Simchat Torah or the Day of Rejoicing in the Torah (the first five books of the Bible) is celebrated beginning after the last day of Tabernacles ends- this year it begins tonight at sunset.
On this exuberant day the Torah scrolls in congregations are taken out and paraded during special services, the Torah portion reading cycle begins over again with Genesis or Bereshit, and we are invited to delight in the sweetness of His Word!
Psalm 119:104-106, 129-131 New King James Version
Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed. That I will keep Your righteous judgments… Your testimonies are wonderful; Therefore my soul keeps them. The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. I opened my mouth and panted, For I longed for Your commandments.
1 Corinthians 1:12 New King James Version
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
Astonishingly, when we receive Jesus (whose Name is Yeshua in Hebrew) in our hearts to begin a relationship with Him, we can also rejoice that He gave Himself for us as a sweet Atoning Offering for us:
John 1:1-5 New International Version
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Simchat Torah is the perfect time to reset spiritually for the new year – to go from worldly woe to the wonder of Him again, and to ask Him to surround us with His Truth for the year ahead.
This year, may we enter in and Sense the Wonder of His Word in an exhilirating way!
